These amazing hearts were made after the sixth graders learned about the movement from the 1960's called Op-Art. This type of art shows an optical illusion of some sort through contrasting colors and precise geometric patterns. The sixth graders had to use curved lines, straight lines, a checkerboard pattern and a shadow to create the optical illusion of the heart coming off of their paper.
