The first graders created these flip flop collages using a variety of media. First we painted the background with liquid water colors. Our goal was to use the painting tachnique called wet on wet. We also sprinkled salt on our backgrounds for more texture. The next week we worked on making a matching pair of flip flops to add to our background. We used construction paper, pipe cleaners and beads for the flip flops to make them look 3-D.

Love these! How did you secure the pipe cleaners to the paper flip flops please? Trying to figure the easiest for my students and me. :-)

Mrs. W.About Me: This is my eighth year teaching art at Switzer Elementary. I see every K-6 student for art once a week. My goal during this time is to nurture students' creativity through exploring different art mediums and concepts. By exploring art, students will develop essential knowledge and skills that will prepare them for the future. Categories
