The fourth graders learned about Printmaking by creating these Spooky Houses. Our main elements of art that we focused on were LINES and SHAPES. We had to create a stamp by drawing a house using shapes and lines onto a piece of styrofoam. After we cut out our stamp we created a background of a moon using oil pastels on a piece of purple construction paper. Then we were ready to print. The fourth graders had fun rolling ink onto a brayer and inking up their own stamp. They printed a proof first on white paper to check their stamp out and then a final print onto their spooky moon papers. An example of our stamps out of styrofoam and our background papers.

Mrs. W.About Me: This is my eighth year teaching art at Switzer Elementary. I see every K-6 student for art once a week. My goal during this time is to nurture students' creativity through exploring different art mediums and concepts. By exploring art, students will develop essential knowledge and skills that will prepare them for the future. Categories
