The third graders created these paintings to show that they know about VALUE in art which is the lightness or darkness of colors. They also used the elements of SHAPES and LINES to create their silhouette of a cat against the moonlight. The first week we painting the background starting with the white moon and worked our way out to the darkest color we used which was red. The second week we drew out our branch and cat with lines and shapes and then painted them in with black to make them stand out against the background.

Mrs. W.About Me: This is my eighth year teaching art at Switzer Elementary. I see every K-6 student for art once a week. My goal during this time is to nurture students' creativity through exploring different art mediums and concepts. By exploring art, students will develop essential knowledge and skills that will prepare them for the future. Categories
