The first graders created these cool fish out of clay to show different textures. We used lots of different tools like popsicle sticks and stylus tools to make scales, stripes, and spots. After the fish were bisque fired in the kiln, we painted them and added a handle with beads.

The fourth graders also studied famous artist Georgia O'Keefe and used organic shapes to draw out these flowers with a black oil pastel. Then they painted their flowers with analogous colors using tempera cakes. The flowers turned out big, bright, and beautiful!
The first graders created these flowers after learning about artist Georgia O'Keefe. They drew organic shapes and repeated those shapes to take up the whole space of their papers. The first graders then colored the flowers in a pattern. A fun time was had by everyone at the annual Switzer Art Show, Basket Raffle, and Ice Cream Social. Students and their families could enjoy both 2-D & 3-D works of art created by every class at Switzer as well as participate in art activities for the night. There was even a chance for families to purchase a collaborative artwork made by each grade level during a silent art auction. Our theme for this year was "The Elements of Art" and students showed off their projects that centered around lines, shapes, color, space, form, and texture. Eisenhower High School art students were on hand for the evening to help everyone with fun art activities such as a collaborative weaving, a paint strip bookmark activity, a "selfie" drawing station, and a face painting station. There was also a silly art photo booth spot where students could grab a fun artsy prop and get their picture taken. Here are a few glimpses of the night: |
