I had a great opportunity in the month of October to help the Brownies earn an ART BADGE after school. They had to complete three different types of Art with me and a still life, portrait, or landscape painting at home. The three types of paintings we did together were a mural that tells a story, a painting made with tools other than paintbrushes, and a painting that depicts an emotion. First we talked about the paintings the girls made at home and then we broke into groups to move around the art room to create at different stations. It was a fun time and made me think of my days as a Brownie and Girl Scout! Thanks for visiting the art room Troop #71516!

The goal for this project was to use warm and cool colors to create a leaf design. Students also had to use a variety of LINES and PATTERNS to fill in the background, leaf, and border.
For the first week, students in first grade learned about primary and secondary colors. Then we mixed the secondary colors of orange and green with paint right on our papers. The second week first graders cut up their orange and green papers to create a pumpkin and then added black and white paper to create a face on their pumpkin. The faces on the pumpkins show some kind of emotion like happiness or anger.
Kindergarten students created these cool black cats with glowing eyes by drawing the letters U,M,O, and S on their paper. Then they painted in the letters with black and used fluorescent yellow to add to dots for eyes. Students also practiced making patterns around the frame by repeating shapes and lines.
The second graders created these Scarecrow collages to show ACTUAL and IMPLIED textures. The clothing was made with rubbing plates to show implied texture and the paper hair and the yarn bow show actual texture. We used a variety of materials to create these collages such at tempera paint, watercolor paint, crayons, and construction paper.
The first graders use a variety of LINES to create these fantastic paintings. The first week we drew and painted 7 different black lines on our paper to create an interesting composition. The second week we painting inside the lines with bright colors.
Students in fourth grade created these cool line design sculptures using sharpie markers and transparency paper. They had a lot of fun twisting and bending the transparency paper to make it stand out from the frame and be 3-D. The goals for this project were to create a 3-D hanging sculpture like famous artist Frank Stella using a variety of lines.
