The Arts and Idols Scholarship Gala is March 5th, right around the corner. Singers representing all of our 4 high schools plus the IB program will be competing for the top scholarship prizes that evening. Please consider attending and cheering on these students. For those who have never been to the event, it is an evening to raise funds to provide scholarships for graduating UCS seniors. Each year, approximately 30 students are chosen district wide to receive these awards. The singing contestants will entertain the audience as they compete for scholarship prizes as well. The Mallow Jazz band will perform during the pre-dinner appetizers. Beautiful artwork created by UCS art teachers and students will be auctioned in both live and silent format throughout the evening. Our own Switzer Students from First and Second Grade helped me create two amazing artworks that will be up for auction on this night. (See pictures below) It is a great evening of raising funds to benefit the students of UCS academically, musically, and artistically. Please see the attached flyer and we look forward to seeing you there! OUr Artwork created for ARTS AND IDOLS:This artwork was created with the fingerprints of every student in the first grade at Switzer after talking about our LOVE of art and how we can express Love through making artwork. Here is a painting of colorful circles created by the second graders. Each student got to paint several circles carefully deciding which colors would show up best on other colors. When they were finished I added more details with lines and dots to enhance the circles.
